Wheeee! Now, of course, comes the rounds of editing where my editor flexes her Grammatic muscles all over my under-educated ass and sharpens it to damn-good quality. I’m sure I’ll grumble–a lot–but the books really do turn out so much cleaner and make a hell of a lot more sense because of her.

So, now I’m going to get caught up on a bunch of stuff, get back to work on fixing this blog and get started talking about Raul.

Yup, you guessed it. “Burn For You” will be out in a MONTH! Conveniently, the day before my anniversary. Which means a trailer is headed your way, folks! Since Raul is a rippling, brown sexual fantasy, I don’t think you’ll mind. Much.

Well, I promised hubby I’d clean today, since I met my deadline, I kinda owe him. Maybe I’ll really turn him on and have clean laundry for him too!

Well, we’ll see.

Is it the number of love scenes or the amount of space between the scenes?

I asked this question on Twitter and Facebook and I was really surprised at the difference in the answers…

” i think how descriptive/graphic the love scenes is what pushes it over that line”–@limecello

“IMHO neither. What makes a book an “erotic romance” is if the sex is an intricate part of the plot–moving it forward.. I often think too many authors think if they add certain words, that makes a book “erotic”. I don’t thinks. TOTALLY my opinion”–@JenniferLeeland

“I always heard it’s erotic if sex is a big part of the plot, rather than the offshoot of things that happen in the plot.”–@cariquinn

“I think it’s the words the author uses, what the chars are doing, and where they’re doing it.”–@RebeccaYork43

“For me, it’s the amount of love scenes, as in ~50% of book.”–@JillSorensen

“Neither, really. It’s more of how graphic it is and the use of sex as a driving plot point. Burn For Me is a very good example of this as is Love Me Knots.”–@ZoeNichols

“Or the intensity and graphic description of the love scenes?”–@Raineweaver

People really aren’t sure and that makes for a blurry line for authors. For me, who is the author I most have to worry about.

I’m editing my next erotic romance for 2010, “All Of You” and as I’m coming down the stretch, I couldn’t help but wonder…is it erotic enough to satisfy erotic audiences?

With these answers in mind, it’s hard to feel comforted. My goal is always to write a complete story, a great romance and a satisfying read. Like most other categories, there are rumored “rules”–start and end with a love scene, you must have at least 3 fully consumated sex scenes and a definite happy ending. There’s also a belief that these characters will be thinking about sex first, anything else later, so the plot must be sexually geared.

I’m still wondering though, how far those rules can be bent. If they should be rules at all. And how far outside the box do I think, when I figure a story can be erotic, romantic and it’s own unique animal?

Much to my dismay, heading back to the dr today. The lungs are starting to fill with concrete, it feels like, and you don’t want to know what I’ve been coughing up.

I have this fantasy where I wake up and there’s nothing wrong with me. Or anyone else. I’m starting to think being tired is just the way everyone feels, lol. But hey, I downloaded a demo of Katamari Damashi 3 and if all else fails, ten minutes of that will make me feel much better.

Along with the heavy cough medicine.

Or rather, the back to school cold.

Yup, Bubba brought a bug home. Since I still have a residual cough and occasional wheeze left from the pneumonia, I didn’t quite realize that I’d caught it, but I did. Watery eyes, stuffy, runny nose and…yup, a cough. Luckily, it’s not as bad as it could have been and will probably blow itself out in another couple of days, but man…

So, going to take the next few days to keep working out my deadline and get the rest of the year organized. Then, a new project. I’m just not sure what that project will be. ;)

Soon as I know, though, you will. ;)

This Is Better…

I think I’ll be customizing the background a little more, but I finally feel like I have my sexy stockings on again. :)

I’ve been doing quite a bit of working lately, but I think I’ll be back to blogging each morning again (weekdays) from now on. It’s time.

Sadly, I’m not at all sure what I’m going to say. Planning to have the kids over–at least one–next week as she’s on break and she misses me. (The babies prolly have a lot to do with that too, lol, not to mention her sister.)

Oh, did I mention deadline looming Oct 1st? Wish me luck!

Okay, so I’ve been tying up business stuff, catching up, diving through the laundry and getting ready for the annual eHQ Open House, so…sadly, plates been full and the blog has a’suffered.

First off–thank you FF, for the resend! It was adorable! And I could have sworn I had picked that up for them! Am bad friend.

Second, I am just about at the space where I can recolorize THIS blog and feel a wee bit better about myself, lol. Maybe by Wednesday. Then I should be back here daily.

Tell me y’all are just as busy and I’ll feel a wee bit better.

Dee

Apologies!!

Okay, I’m going to be creating my own theme soon, but this one is nice and soothing, so going with it for a time. :)

But if it makes anyone feel better, here’s what’s been keeping me busy:

I’ve switched databases and…sob, started my blog all over it seems. :) Three years is a long time to lose, but I’ve got it all backed up. :) I’m hoping it can be fixed.

So, starting new. Now to figure out what the heck to talk about! :)
