So, last night didn’t go so well for my guys. My amazing kicker–most accurate in NFL history–couldn’t make a field goal to save his life and began the long, painful slide to the end of our post-season dreams. Our famous running back turned into a sullen kid on the bench. Our offensive line didn’t seem capable of handling a play without turning it into a 5 yard false-start penalty. Our receivers didn’t seem to know that half the plays required them to catch the ball. And I don’t know what the hell happened to our Special Teams.
It’s official. My Chargers are now in the rarified choking air of the Cowboys. Sob.
See you next year, Football Season

Guess now I’ll have to cheer on the Saints. The Chargers had a damned good run this year. Nothing to be ashamed about. It could be worse, we could be watching the Pats in the Superbowl.

I have been away from the loop with football too long. I loved it as being a young child, becoming an adult. Being from Texas, it was always the Cowboys. Back then, the heroes were Roger Staubach and Tom Landry. Afterwards, after relocating to California, I found myself once in a while rooting for John Brodie of the 49ers, but it really was always Cowboys as soon as two came head-to-head. Now, I’m retired. The stress of deadlines, personal projects and endless errands have reduced. And I wax nostalgically for the gridiron and also the excitement of the tournament. Yes, I’m going to be watching so much more football. You can bet on it.
