Interview Day!

July 20, 2010

Hey Gang, World’s Laziest Blogger is up an at em again this week! (I know, you’re shocked!)

I’ve been interviewed over at Six Sexy Sirens today! If you have some time, please do check it out. :)

I’ve been slowly but surely hacking away at my obligations and schedule, but I’ll be realistic. Once or twice a week is going to be my schedule for blogging for the summer, at the least. Just a lot on my plate and my plate got bigger too. But, I have good news!

I’ve added a subscription option to the sidebar. If you’d like to be notified that a new post has gone up so that you don’t have to wonder if I’m alive this week or not, feel free to sign up. It’ll send you a discreet little message that I’ve posted! :)

I’ve got quite a few things on the burner this month, one of which is that I’m going to be doing a live chat for the Savvy Authors Summer Symposium! July 30th, I’ll be helping people decide the 5 Things Ever Author Site Needs. I’ll be doing the chat because aside from my author criteria, I’m also a web designer, so I can be a little handy for those do-it-yourselfers out there. :)

So, sending hugs out to my peeps! Hope you’re having a great summer!!

Dee

Hot Date At Midnight

July 14, 2010

Nope, it’s not a book title. For the first time in like ever, it was my life! LOL!

Okay, here’s how it went. Very long day, hubby woke at 5 to get some things done and to get the boy ready. Since I was up til 3 with the girls and work, I slept til 10 like a slob.

So then, hubby crashed around 7 and napped until 11 when I finally dragged the girls upstairs because I didn’t want to be up all night again. So, threw them into the shower, into the tooth brushing and finally into their crib. Around midnight, they finally gave up and went to sleep.

Which left an un-dinnered hubby and a freshly scrubbed me. Hmmm, did I mention my friend Zoe was over and she’s usually up all night because she works overnights?

So, hubby knows some all night Korean places and he said, hey, why don’t we go out?

I kid you not, I got dressed and by 1 am, we were on our way to the BCD Tofu House in Irvine. AWE. SOME. FOOD.

Picture it, little fried fishy on a sideplate, a hot stone pot and when they serve the food, it’s still bubbling/boiling. Crack the egg they gave you and drop it into the boiling soup. Stir it around with your metal chopsticks (even the bowls are metal, to keep your food hot in every step to your mouth) and dig in.

For those non-tofu eaters out there, believe me, you’re missing out. It’s not about the tofu. It’s about the soups and sauces and flavors and meats that go with it. You totally forget about the tofu. (Yup, I say that as a die-hard carnivore. Slap some cow on that stuff and it’s fine.)

I can’t tell you how decadent it is to sneak out like a couple of teenagers in the middle of the night and just have a nice dinner together. I mean, does it kind of suck that I can only get a date at 1am? A little. But for awesome service, amazing food and the best guy in the world? 1am is the new happy hour. :)

You guys do anything reckless and crazy this week?
Dee

My brain has been alive with ideas. Which is a good thing as I need to put together proposals for next year’s books. I’m just flat out of time to get them done. Still I have one idea that won’t shut up. And three books reminding me they want to be worked on. And another one telling me that is he doesn’t get to play with his heroine soon, he’s packing up his wolf toys and going home.

Luckily, I REALLY like Tate and his heroine, who is a steel flame if ever there was one. :) Allow me to share a tidbit of him and his lady meeting (totally unedited):

A bag lay under an apple tree, a beaten old backpack with a sleeping roll tied beneath it. Shoes, thin slinks of socks stuffed in the empty middles, sat neatly nearby. But that wasn’t what made him blink. It was the woman crouched on one thick upper limb, one hand one the trunk, not even breathing as she waited to see if he would pass her by…

Don’t worry, he won’t.
Rawr!

Dear Tuesday

June 29, 2010

I wish I had more to say to you. It is once again your weekly visit to my life, and much like last week, your plans and my plans for the day seem to be at odds.

I’d like very much to go back to sleep and lay in bed all day until hubby gets home.

You, however, are obsessed with cleaning and being productive.

I’d like to work madly on some enticing revisions.

You want me to work on technical work.

I’d like to get some laundry washed.

You’d like me to actually put away the stuff I already washed. LAST Tuesday.

You’re mean, Tuesday. Probably right, but still, I want it on the record that you’re a real taskmaster and I am not looking forward to your pushy ways. I may play a round of Solitaire in revolt.

Oh, and when your sister Wednesday arrives, please tell her that I’m sleeping in. SHE’S way more understanding than you. :P

Dee
(who loves you, but would love some good reasons to ignore you.)

LOL, so, Mom visited me yesterday. I had an appointment and needed a ride, so she came over to help me out. As is often the case, we came around to writing. See, I didn’t just pop out a writer. My mother writes. She’s always written, always loved words and has shared that with us.

But my Mom will also smack me in the back of the head for swearing.

As you can imagine, I don’t let Mom read my books, lol.

Still, Mom is sneaky and she slipped onto the website and read some excerpts. And she was telling me how proud she is, which of course makes me into a terribly mushy ball of little kid. Mom is my hero, so hearing her say she’s proud of me is right up there with creating World Peace.

Now, I’ve given her print copies as I’ve gotten them, but she’s always respected my “Um, you REALLY don’t want to read that” warning. Still, despite her expressed pride, I balked at letting her see what I’ve been up to since she read my first book five years ago. (Plus, that’s a LOT of headslaps in “Tempting The Enemy” alone, lol) I mean, it’s MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM.

But she really wants to read one. She’s staying away from the erotics, which I think is good for us both, lol, but I’ve finally relented and let her read her copy of “Kiss Me Again”. If she doesn’t come after me with a broom, I’ll make sure she reads her copy of “Burn For Me” when they come this summer. :)

So what about all of you? Do you have any trouble letting YOUR mom read your books? And if you don’t write, would you let her read the books you read?

You wouldn’t think those three things had much in common, but this is my life, where strange miracles happen every day.

The fact that I’m doing my laundry is sure registering as a miracle to my sock-bath-towel-deprived family. So, an entire basket of socks has been sorted and paired–sort of, the teen is not a fan of paired socks. (She loves to torment my OCD by wearing unmatched socks, which is better than how she torments hubby’s sanitary issues by attempting to eat off the floor, lol.) I sorted everything last night and am now on pace to keep laundry in constant rotation for the next week. (We have a small machine) I woke up this morning and got right on that, then I converted another miracle. I dug out my stationary bike and spent thirty minutes peddling as if my life–instead of my ass–depended on it. I even went on to do my stretches that the EDS has kept me from the last two nights. I was on a hell of a roll!

So, eat a reasonable brekkie, sit down and think, hmm, wonder if any reviews have come in today. What do you know, one new one is in (the Tempting Book page has one each from Bitten By Books and Joyfully Reviewed, respectively)!

But this is miracle day, remember?

It’s not a 5 star review…it’s a LASR Best Book review!!

That’s ABOVE a 5 Star.

Which is why I melted to the floor in utter blessed shock. Then I read it to my hubby with teary eyes. :)

If you’ve got a sec, take a look:

Rating: LASR Best Book

“There are no words … and so many words … to describe how truly incredible this story was… In only a few paragraphs I was hooked and never once did I regret choosing this book to read… I could rave on for days, but I won’t. What I will say is this: do yourself a favor and do not miss this book. Even if you’re not a huge shifter fan, or you’ve never liked futuristic books or whatever reason you may think you have for skipping it … don’t. I read a lot of books and I seldom find one that grips me as this one did. Fact is, the moment I’m done with this review, I’m going to pick it up and read it again. And then maybe again. It’s just that good.” — Poppy, Long & Short Reviews

Happy Dancing,
Dee

Morning Gang!

Today we have a guest poster, the always fun author, KS Augustin, who has one of the first launch books out from Carina Press!

First, a bit about her. KS Augustin is a Malaysian-born writer of Portuguese-Eurasian descent. Because she has a low boredom threshold, she’s been involved in many things over the years, including writing comedy, running her own IT consultancy and, at various times, owning a bookshop, gym, swimming pool business and martial arts school.

As a writer, she dabbles mostly in science fiction, romance and permutations of the two. She’s been nominated for several awards (which absolutely makes her day) and has been on the Fictionwise Bestseller list (which caused her to walk on air for almost a week). She’s a proud member of Broad Universe, the international organization that supports women writing science fiction, fantasy and horror.

She and her husband move around a lot and consider the world, rather than any one specific country, to be their home. Tagging along on their frequent country-hopping are two long-suffering children, a brace of grumpy fur-shedding cats and a willful mini Bull Terrier.

And now, ladies and gents, KS!

When I sit down and write a post for someone else’s blog, I usually go to their blog, read through previous posts and also comments to the posts. That gives me an idea of what people are interested in reading in that particular corner of the intertubes. And the one thing I get from Dee is that she’s, like, mired in FAMILY. There are twins and kids and in-laws and parents and sisters and their kids and…oh my!

It’s all rather intimidating because, you see, I’m an only child. And I married an only child. And we’ve had to answer questions from the kids on “what are cousins and do we have any?”. (At least we have two children, so they have some company.) My parents aren’t around and my husband J’s father passed away a few years ago, which leaves one grandmother in Poland. So, no brothers, no sisters, one grandparent left out of four. Aren’t tracking too well are we?

There is a positive in all this, though, besides not having to spend time with a sibling I don’t get on with! :) It’s that our sense of family has broadened to encompass a wider circle of people. We are social animals after all, so it’s the natural progression of things. And while you can’t choose your blood relatives, you can certainly choose the members of your community. I find that a rather attractive thought. So I have women I’ve never seen in the flesh who are like sisters to me and, due to modern technology, I’ve reconnected with someone I love dearly that I’ve always thought of as a brother. They’re all there for me and they’ll even help me bury the bodies. What more could I ask? :)

I may not have a large family to call my own, but I’ve managed to find great friends and hope I’ll continue to do so for years to come. Thanks for having me at your blog, Dee. And big slobbery kisses to you and yours!

About The Book:

IN ENEMY HANDS

The Republic had taken everything from Moon―her research partner, her privacy, her illusions. They thought they had her under control. They were wrong.

Srin Flerovs, Moon’s new research partner, is a chemically enhanced maths genius whose memory is erased every two days.

While he and Moon work on a method of bringing dead stars back to life, attraction between them flares, but that poses its own problem. How can their love survive when Srin forgets Moon every two days?

When she discovers the lethal applications her research can be put to, Moon knows she and Srin are nothing more than pawns in a much larger game. Together, they must escape the clutches of the Republic before they become its scapegoats. But there are too many walls around them, too many eyes watching. They want to run, but they’re trapped on a military vessel in the depths of space, and time is running out….

Good Morning Gang!

June 8, 2010

Well, it’s been a really busy week and it’s promising to be another one, but I’m so happy that yesterday, my nephew had his 6th grade graduation. He’s worked hard, overcoming some learning disabilities and it was great to see all that work rewarded. So very proud of him!!

Plus, got to visit with Mom, too!

But, alas, that was an awful lot of driving yesterday from here to Mom’s and all the way down into San Diego. And we’d done the drive to Riverside Co the day before. Phew! With any luck, we won’t be driving anywhere far for a long while. Which is good, cause as unglamorous as it is to say, I gotta scrub my shower and knuckle down for some serious writing.

The good news, though, is that reviews are starting to come in for “Tempting The Enemy”!

From Joyfully Reviewed: “I thoroughly enjoyed Temping the Enemy. It’s original, sensual, and fascinating – what more can you ask for?”

And 5 Tombstones from Bitten By Books: “Dee Tenorio has written a fantastic urban world. The Sibiles are aloof and powerful, the shifters are terrified yet strong, and the humans are slowly working on ways to rid the world of both. Jade and Pale are like fire and kindling, sparking romance and lust all around them. The bedroom scenes are to die for, and these two strong personalities are amazing to watch interact.”

Not a bad way to start a week, eh? So how about you? What are your plans for the week?
